
Iran Daily reported that the volume of petrochemical products rose by 170% during the tenure of President Mr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Mr Abdolhossein Bayat MD of National Petrochemical Company said that some 5.2 million tonnes of petrochemicals, valued at USD 55.1 billion were exported during 2005 to 202011.
The official said that some 55.4 million tonnes of the petrochemicals were sold in the country during the period. Value of petrochemicals produced in the country increased from USD 2.3 billion in the year to March 2006 to USD 14.7 billion in the past Iranian year.
Mr Bayat said that some 4.9 million tonnes of petrochemicals were sold in the country in the year to March 2006 while the figure increased by 145% to reach 12 million tonnes in the past year.
