
Oman Daily Observer the government recently kicked off the process of prequalifying bidders for 2 key tenders linked to the implementation of the Phase I of the Oman National Railway Project.
Two sets of tenders were floated recently. The first tender invites competent international firms to prequalify for a contract to undertake the detailed design of the National Railway Project, as well supervise its implementation. A second tender also seeks to prequalify international bidders for a similar contract to advise the government on the management of the project.
A number of prominent design consultants and project management specialists have already signaled interest in the project by collecting bid documents on the opening day of the prequalification process.
Firms seeking to prequalify for the design consultancy include Worley Parsons Oman Engineering, Bechtel, KOTRA, Vissing GmbH, Parsons International, Dar al Handasah and Typsa Consulting. Project management prequalification bids were also collected by Bechtel, KOTRA, Barker Wilkins & Smith Middle East, Mace International, Worley Parsons Oman, Parsons International and Dar al Handasah.
The last date for submission of offers for both tenders is May 31st 2010.
