Fluor Corporation announced that RasGas Company Limited had recently recognized the firm for its successful completion of the RL3 Common Offplot Projects in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Fluor began the USD 1.5 billion engineering, procurement and construction management project in November 2005.

Fluors engineering, procurement and construction management for the common offplot facilities included power distribution, laying pipelines, installing storage tanks and related equipment for common storage and loading operations supporting numerous new LNG, gas to liquids and gas sales projects in Ras Laffan City.

Mr Jim Heavner senior VP of Fluor’s Energy and Chemicals Group said that over the past 3 plus years, our project team has consistently demonstrated engineering and construction excellence on this milestone driven mega project for RasGas. Our project team successfully trained more than 62,000 different workers at the site coming from 40 different countries with peak construction manpower reaching nearly 9,000 workers in January 2008.

Mr Dave Marchak Venture Manager of RasGas said that the Common Offplot Projects have set new benchmarks for project execution excellence, particularly in the area of safety performance.
