Construction Week reported that further signs of a general recovery in construction are coming from the recruitment sector which reports that companies are looking to increase their staff numbers.

Experts reported that the UAE and Dubai in particular has suffered the most in terms of a recruitment decline but the GCC as a whole appears to be stabilizing.

Mr Nigel Walker GM of Budge Recruitment said that a lot of clients who put recruitment on hold are now preparing their budgets for 2010 and hiring. Infrastructure work is still going ahead, so it’s certainly busier now than it was 8 or 9 months ago. Recruitment in construction is down overall on previous years but the market is beginning to recover.

Mr Patrick Luby MD of Manpower Middle East said that “The UAE construction sector has seen a significant decline in the last year and therefore hiring levels are much reduced from previous, pre recession levels. Having signs of new growth are certainly showing, which is very positive.”
