
It is reported that the joint committee of Pakistan’s ministry of environment and the Capital Development Authority could not so far convene a single meeting regarding relocation of steel furnaces from Sector I-9.
The civic agency, on October 29th 2008 had pledged to indicate alternate plots in sector I-17 for the pollution emitting industries of Sector I-9 within six weeks of the mentioned date.
A joint committee, under the headship of director general Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency was constituted on the occasion for relocation of the steel furnaces. However, the EPA couldn’t convene a single meeting of the committee despite a lapse of 8 weeks.
