
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry or SCCI has announced the appointment of Mr Lalu Samuel MD of Pierlite Middle East as the chairman of the Provisional Committee for the Industrial Work Group.
Mr Naser Musabbeh Al Tunaiji was named deputy chairman of the committee for the Industrial Work Group, which has been set up to give new momentum to Sharjah's industrial drive.
Mr Samuel, a prominent industrialist, is chairman of the diversified Kingston Holdings Group, which has several joint ventures and proprietary brands, including Pierlite, GP and Rexton, covering a geographic area across 62 countries.
Mr Samuel said that the committee for the Industrial Work Group that represents Sharjah's USD 20 billion industrial sector would work to promote investments in the industrial sector.
Members of the newly elected committee include Mr Saleem Al Sayegh, Mr Maher Al Summan, Mr Sameerah Ibrahim, Mr Hassab Alrasoul Al Aghbash, Mr Bassam Mohamed, Dr Saleh Al Dubass, Mr Waleed Al Najar, Mr Hisham Shkeeb, Mr Romeo Ajrejardu and Mr Waseem Qastely.
Mr Ibrahim Al Jarwan, director of economical affairs, explained that the Provisional Committee for the Industrial Work Group would carry the responsibilities till the next general annual assembly meeting at which a new committee would be elected.
The Industrial Group of Sharjah consists of 1,500 industries with an annual output of USD 20 billion and an export value of USD 3 billion. Sharjah's industrial units represent 44% of industries based in the UAE.
