The News reported that the Sui Southern Gas Company LPG Limited has filed an application with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority to obtain a marketing licence for starting operations at the Progas LPG Terminal.
An SSGC spokesman said that the recently acquired terminal is not lying idle, but in order to embark on any business, all legal and operational formalities have to be fulfilled. In this particular case, SSGC LPG Limited cannot commence the operations until it obtains a marketing licence from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority for which the company has filed an application with the authority.
Furthermore, SLL has also approached the Port Qasim Authority for the implementation agreement, which is a mandatory document for conducting any business activity in the PQA’s jurisdiction.
An official said that SSGC is well aware of the country’s fuel demand and is committed to meet its obligation. On the operational front, the aforesaid plant that SLL has acquired has been non-operational for the last 18 months and since there was no maintenance done in these 18 months, therefore, it needed technical refurbishment and the necessary renovation work is underway to make it functional in a safe and efficient manner.
