The News reported that Sui Southern Gas Company has taken all hands on the deck to incorporate supplies from Kunnar Passaki deep into its system by November to cater to the winter demand.
Mr Azim Siddiqui MD of SSGC said that "The work is in high pace and 100 million cubic feet per day gas from Kunnar Passaki would be in our system by November. This would increase the availability of gas in our system to a little extent as we would have to share around 50 million cubic feet per day out of this 100 million cubic feet per day with the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines."
The Kunnar Passaki field would provide an accumulated gas supply of 250 million cubic feet per day. In the Phase I, it would provide 100 million cubic feet per day and in the Phase II it would provide another 150 million cubic feet per day. The Phase II would be incorporated by 2013.
Currently, the gas utility supplies hover around 1,080 million cubic feet per day from its field including Sui in Balochistan, Zamzama, Bhit, Kadanwari, Awan, Bobby, Naiumat Bogal, Kausar, Badin, Pakro and Adam in Sindh against the minimum requirement of 1,250 million cubic feet per day.
The official said that the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited completed the key project in Kunnar Passaki Deep earlier than expected, despite flood related issues.
A timely start to 100 million cubic feet per day gas production from the Kunnar Passaki Deep likely by the end of the current month will represent 10% of the OGDCL’s gas production. Following 3 years of successive slippages on production targets over 2009 to 2011, OGDCL is poised to deliver double digit volume growth in the current fiscal year.
During the last few months, OGDCL’s record on project delivery and volume sustainability has improved as anticipated. This follows a change in the company’s development strategy of focusing on in house field development, the end to litigation on major project developments, largely in favor of the company and a growing government focus on exploring areas of incremental volume additions in both oil and gas.
