ISRIA reported that the Action Team composed of members from the Embassy of Saudi in Beijing and members from the Ministry of Commerce in China had held their 2nd meeting at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce to resolve the issue of dumping of certain Saudi products.
During the meeting some proposals to resolve this issue were put forward and the Chinese side agreed to reinvestigate the case filed by Chinese companies according to new evidence submitted by the Saudi companies and meet with officials of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom on this issue and discuss solutions.
Engineer Yahya bin Abdul Karim Al-Zaid Saudi Ambassador had earlier met with the deputy minister of commerce and they agreed to resolve the issue amicably and form a working group to coordinate resolution for this issue. The other hand a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Commerce arrived recently in Beijing to meet with the Chinese side to discuss the issue of dumping against some products originating in Saudi Arabia.
Mr Abdurrahman Zamil chairman of the Saudi Exports Development Center said that the government should act with Saudi companies and follow up on complaints of dumping. He said that everyone complains about Chinese goods. He added that the Chinese steel products, plastics and electrical products harm the Saudi industries because of the dumping.
Many politicians in the West recently accuse China of pursuing protectionist measures in trade though justified in some cases and in others they appear to be looking for a scapegoat. It is expected that Mr Hu Jintao president of China will renew China's opposition to the protectionism and defend issues of developing countries when China participates in the dialogue scheduled for next week between the Group of 8 and the emerging economies.
