
Arab News reported that the Dammam based Electrical Industries Co, one of the largest manufacturers and providers of electrical equipment in the Gulf region, has signed a contract worth SAR140 million to supply the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water with oil type distribution transformers. The transformers, which will be used in Kuwait's electricity grid, will be manufactured and supplied by Electrical Industries subsidiary of the Saudi Transformers Company and will be rated at 1250 kilovolts ampere.
Mr Ahmed bin Nasser Al Suwaidan MD & VC of the board said that this order is one of a series of agreements that Electrical Industries has finalized with the region's utilities for products manufactured by its subsidiary Saudi Transformers Company.
He added that "Over the past two decades Saudi Transformers Company has established itself as a leading Gulf-based manufacturer of transformer and substations. Our manufacturing and quality standards are comparable with any leading international brand, and we've proved time and time again that Saudi Transformers Company can deliver the best quality at the right price to utilities and electricity providers across the region."
Mr Al Suwaidan said that "We've already begun manufacturing this order for transformers on behalf of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water at our factory in Dammam. We will begin supplying the first transformers by February 2012 and we expect to complete the order by the end of 2012."
He added that "We're delighted that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water has chosen Electric Industries to supply them with such a large order of transformers. To us this is proof that Saudi based manufacturers such as ourselves can produce electrical products at a high quality to serve the needs of the Gulf's utility providers."
Saudi Transformers Company is an approved supplier of Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Aramco and all utilities in the region. It has also supplied transformers and substations to Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority; Abu Dhabi's Water & Electricity Authority as well as private contractors in and outside the Kingdom. The company recently supplied a contract worth SAR190 million for over 1,750 distribution transformers and substations to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
Transformers are integral components of any electrical grid and are a critical element in the efficient and safe conversion of energy across diverse voltage systems. Saudi Transformers Company's portfolio includes distribution transformers and substations as well as related services and components.
