Oman Observer reported that as part of Gulf International Pipe Industry's commitment towards Omanisation, the second batch of 14 Omani trainees has successfully completed their six months training program with the company and have all been recruited as qualified members of the GIPI workforce at its Pipe Manufacturing Complex in Sohar.
The training program commences with a four day HSE course conducted by the National Training Institute in Sohar, followed by an on boarding program whereby trainees are thoroughly briefed about the company's operations and other relevant aspects of the business. Prior to the formal first phase of intensive on the job training at the Plant facilities, the trainees undergo a comprehensive two month theoretical course on the pipe mill operations as well as pipe manufacturing processes.
The plant work stations were extensively utilized in giving the trainees a working exposure so that they become well acquainted with the operation and maintenance of Oman's first High Pressure ERW Pipe Mill. They will undergo the second phase of on the job training on specific functions and they will be rotated within distinct operational sections for the next six months to enable them to become competent multi skilled Operators and Technicians.
Mr Hamdan Al Shaqsy CEO of Gulf International Pipe Industry said that "GIPI is so proud to have recruited these talented and ambitious young Omanis who have put in a lot of hard work and effort to graduate and a bright future awaits them in GIPI. With patience and hard work they can overcome any challenge. We will count on them to be responsible members of the GIPI family. I wish them all the best."
Omani employees are employed in all areas of the company including sales and marketing, finance, supply chain, IT services and human resources development.
