
According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association, in the first six months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 359,618 units falling by 19.4% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In June alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales fell 12.9% compared to the same month of 2011 totaling 74,781 units.
In the first 6 months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 244,490 units falling by 15.6% YoY.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 393,552 units falling by 5.7% YoY while its passenger car exports amounted to 221,579 units falling by 4.5% compared to the same period last year. The revenue for these export sales reached USD 9.02 billion for total motor vehicle and component exports falling 4% while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled USD 3.24 billion falling by 3.7% both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first 6 months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 12.8% YoY totaling 174,496 units. In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle imports totaled 221,026 units falling by 17% YoY.
