
Mr Mohamamd Javad Shams MD of Petropars Company as saying that the first refinery of South Pars Phase 12 will become operational by the end of the current Iranian year. Some 11,000 workers are involved in the development project of South Pars Phase 12 which is now 80% complete.
Mr Shams said that the onshore section of the phase is 76.7% complete. Based on a related buyback agreement, Petropars Company is committed to use the potential of domestic companies for implementing 51% of the project while some 66% of total operation has been so far carried out by Iranian firms.
The Petropars Company is also committed to make USD 1.6 million worth of investment in the drilling section of the project which, so far has seen a physical progress of 72%. Some USD 1.2 million of the fund have been made available.
Once operational, the South Pars Phase 12 will supply some 75 million cubic meters of gas to nationwide gas network and liquefied natural gas units per day. About 120,000 barrels of gas condensates and 750 tonnes of sulfur are also expected to be produced in the phase per day.
Earlier, a senior control expert at the South Pars gas field said early production from phases 17 and 18 of the field will start this year after launching the first gas processing plant of the phases.
Mr Mahmoud Taheri said that the project has seen a physical progress of 80% in onshore sector adding Iranian experts will complete construction of related gas processing plant before the end of current Iranian year in March 2013.
He said that development plan of South Pars gas field phases 17 and 18 includes installation of four platforms, each with production capacity of 500 million cubic feet of gas per day. Adding two platforms will be built by Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company and the other two by Sadra Company.
He added that two 110 kilometer parallel gas pipelines will be launched in next two months to transfer sour gas from the phases' offshore sector to onshore sector. The project has a physical progress of 67% the gas processing plant of the phases include 4 units.
