Turkey's largest steelmaking group Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS has announced that the Turkish Metal Union decided in favor of strike action at Erdemir steel service center subsidiary ERDEMİR Çelik Servis Merkezi San ve Tic AŞ in the context of collective labor agreement negotiations held between ERSEM and the Turkish Metal Union which started on July 1st 2011 and are still in progress. Erdemir received notification of the strike decision on November 22nd 2011.

Based in Gebze, ERSEM is a steel service center providing cutting and slitting services for hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils and coated metal products with an annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes.
