An official from the Mayor’s Office has said that work on studies for 36 projects in Jeddah has been delayed due to late payments lack of budgeted financial allocations, postponement until draining channel completion and reasons related to coordination with government bodies.
The official, who cited the General Authority of Civil Aviation as one of those bodies, said that of the works most severely affected are those at Prince Majed Street which requires junctions with Al Telefizyoun, Al Hejra, Al Falah, King Faisal and Zainal streets as well as with the Old Makkah Road. The designs for those intersection works are only 60-percent complete.
He said that studies for works at other roads including intersections at King Abdul Aziz and King Fahd streets were only 30% complete. Some studies are 90% done. Others have been completed but are on hold until water drainage projects are finished.
