Kuwait Times cited Dr Mohammed Al Basairi communications minister of Kuwait as saying that the studies on the planned subway and railway systems have been concluded and submitted to the major projects committee for consideration.

Dr Al Busairi, who is also the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, revealed that the projects would be carried out using the Build Operate Transfer system, while the railway project is to be implemented through a shareholding company.

He explained that 50% of the shares in the company will be offered for sale to citizens, while 24% will be retained by the government and the remaining 26% will be available to private investors.
