An oil company recently ran Dopeless® technology for the first time at one of the several exploration blocks in northern Iraq secured by the company.

The customer decided to try the dope free coating due to its operational benefits. Dopeless® technology is applied in a controlled, industrial setting, minimizing the risks associated with the handling and use of dope on the rig. Also, by arriving rig ready the operator eliminates certain operational steps, making drilling projects more efficient. For example, by using Dopeless® technology, the operator achieved significant running savings compared with the standard TenarisHydril Blue® connection and a similar type of connection from the competition.

A total of 150 TenarisHydril Blue® Dopeless® connections with a 9 5/8" OD were run flawlessly. Even after being in storage for well over a year, the customer reported that casing connections and Dopeless® coating were in perfect condition for the running.
