Tenaris participated for the second consecutive year in the Basra Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, featuring its TenarisHydril premium connections and Dopeless® technology. The meeting, one of the most important events in Iraq's oil and gas industry, was held from November 25th 2011 to November 28th 2011.
Mr Math Abdul Karim, Tenaris Iraq Country Manager, said that "The event allowed us to meet most of the Iraqi and international operators that will lead the growing number of oil and gas operations due to take place in the south of Iraq in the coming years."
Mr Abdul Karim mentioned that many existing contacts were strengthened and new relations were established during the four days of the conference. He added that "In 2012 the Iraqi oil and gas market will experience important growth and development, and this gives Tenaris the opportunity to strengthen its position in the country."
Iraq is currently one of the fastest-growing markets in the Middle East, as 6,400 new wells are expected to be drilled by 2018. The country's Ministry of Oil stated that current oil production stands at 2.5 million barrels a day but the aim is to reach 12 million barrels a day by 2018.
