It is reported that Tunisian Steel Manufacturing Company in Bizerta is pursuing the implementation of its upgrading program dedicated to the production units to strengthen and increase its competitiveness.
As per report, El Fouledh Steel Manufacturing Company is among 4040 companies targeted by the government for upgrading program since its inception 15 years ago. The company produces annually 200,000 tonnes of steel billets, 250,000 tonnes of rebars, 15,000 tonnes of wire products and 10,000 tonnes of metal products, processes old iron and manages and develops steel and iron wastes.

As part of the upgrading program, the company will increase the production capacity of the existing electric furnace with a view to reach an annual production capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes of steel billets. In 2009, the company set up a second electric furnace with the same capacity so as to double the total annual production to 200,000 tonnes of steel billets. It is operated by an advanced computer systems merging safety and energy savings.

El Fouledh company also seeks to upgrade the environment of its premise on the southern shore of the Bizerta Lake about 1 Kilometre from the factory.

Founded in 1962, El Fouledh company currently employs 1,000 people and comprises quality control production laboratories and units relating to analysis, testing and know how.
