Turkey based plantmaker CVS Technology has signed two contracts with Brazil based Gerdau, one of the world's largest long steel producers, regarding the revamp of the existing electric arc furnace at its Cearense steel mill and a new EAF lower shell at its Sao Paulo steel mill.
CVS Technology will revamp the existing spout type EAF at the Cearense steel mill to an eccentric bottom tapping type EAF, aiming to increase production capacity and lower electricity consumption. The revamping works are scheduled to be completed in nine months.
The second contract with Gerdau includes a new EAF lower shell with a tapping capacity of 115 MT at the Sao Paulo steel mill. The lower shell will be designed for an EBT type furnace. The construction of the new lower shell is expected to be completed by March 31st 2012.
