According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in August this year Turkey's total hot rolled coil exports amounted to 31,483 tonnes increasing by 80.6% compared to the previous month and down 56% compared to August 2011. Turkey's hot rolled coil exports had been falling on MoM basis in the 4 months from April to July this year.

Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports in August totaled USD 20.6 million rising by 68.2% compared to July this year and down 61.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. Turkey's hot rolled coil exports in the first 8 months of the current year totaled 398,628 tonnes decreasing by 67.7% compared to the same period of 2011.

HR coil exports to Italy, which was the largest hot rolled flat steel export destination of Turkey in 2011 accounting for 44% of total Turkish HR flat steel exports totaled 16,131 tonnes in August this year decreasing by 46.3% compared to the same month of 2011. Turkish HR coil exports to the European Union in August amounted to 27,731 tonnes increasing on MoM basis following 4 months of downward movement.
