
Steel Orbis reported that in October, Turkey's steel billet export volume increased significantly over September after decreasing during 2 consecutive months while the average billet export price increased by 1.73% MoM.
Turkey's billet export volume in October was the second highest monthly volume reached so far 2009 at just 1.91% lower than the volume recorded in July.
According to the preliminary data released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association, in October Turkey's total steel billet exports amounted to 370,442 tonnes increasing by 74.82% MoM and up 191.52% YoY. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled USD 162.94 million up 100.56% compared to the same month of the previous year and increasing by 77.83% over September of 2009.
In October, the average export price of Turkish steel billet was USD 440 per tonne up USD 7.46 per tonne or 1.73% from September levels but indicating a decrease of USD 200 per tonne or 31.2% from USD 640 per tonne in October 2008. On the other hand, in the January to October period of the current year, Turkey's steel billet exports decreased by 16.22% YoY to 1.92 million tonne totaling a value of USD 787.76 million down 59.86% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
