
According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in April this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 54.6% compared to the previous month and were up 72.7% compared to April 2011 totaling 42,629 tonnes. The value of these imports amounted to USD 61.1 million increasing by 44.16% as compared to March and up 42.7% YoY.
In the first 4 months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 145,711 tonnes increasing 2.8% compared to January to April 2011. Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 57,514 tonnes rising by 5.3% while imports from India in the first 4 months of the current year amounted to 24,454 tonnes down 15.1% both compared to the same period of 2011. Meanwhile, China exported 17,950 tonnes of ferroalloys to Turkey in the first 4 months up 74.8% YoY.
