
Reuters reported that Oman has awarded the Turkish construction company Makyol the contract of the Phase I of Al Batinah coastal road construction project.
According to the tender board, under the contract which is worth USD 325.5 million, Makyol will build the 126 kilometers road in the Sultanate.
Makyol which overseas markets include Albania, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Morocco will be involved in the Phase I of the project and another contract to build the Phase II of the project is expected to be awarded by the end of 2009. It is worth mentioning that Oman is investing heavily in infrastructure, having earmarked a budget of over USD 16 billion for 2009.
