According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in June this year Turkey's flat steel imports including hot rolled, cold rolled, coated and narrow strip steel fell by 10.8% compared to the previous month and were up 12.8% compared to June 2011 totaling 450,792 tonnes. The value of these imports amounted to USD 344.5 million, decreasing by 8.8% as compared to May this year and up 13.4% YoY.
Meanwhile, in the H1 of the current year Turkey's flat steel imports amounted to 2.43 million tonnes decreasing 5% compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the H1 of the current year, Turkey's hot rolled flat steel imports from Ukraine amounted to 570,375 tonnes increasing by 11.2% YoY. Turkey's second biggest source of hot rolled flat steel imports in January to June this year was Russia with 415,739 tonnes down 36.5% compared to the H1 of 2011. Meanwhile, Turkey's hot rolled flat steel imports from the EU amounted to 883,036 tonnes in the H1 rising by 11.8% YoY.
