
According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Turkish Undersecretariate of Customs, Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled USD 1.83 billion in May 2012, increasing by 15.7% YoY and up by 2.6% MoM.
Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country in the given month.
Meanwhile, in May 2012, imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 18th among the products with the highest import value, fell by 3.9% YoY to USD 216 million.
In the first five months of 2012, the country's iron and steel imports stood at USD 8.4 billion, increasing by 6.5% YoY, while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to USD 902.7 million, down by 13.5% YoY.
