
According to the customs statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in June this year Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 466,202 tonnes falling by 51% compared to the previous month and down 47% compared to the same month of 2011.
Turkey's top iron ore source in June this year was Brazil which supplied 390,227 tonnes of iron ore to Turkey compared to 502,873 tonnes recorded in the same month of 2011.
In the H1 of this year, Turkey imported 3.48 million tonnes of iron ore increasing 3.4% compared to the H1 of the previous year. The average import price of iron ore in January to June was USD 157 per tonne down USD 8 per tonne compared to the same period last year.
In the period in question, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil constituted 60.75% of the country's total iron ore imports with 2.1 million tonnes.
