
According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute, Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in April this year increased by 12.8% compared to the same month of the previous year and was down by 4.2% over March this year.
In April, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 3.9% YoY and registered 8.3% decrease from the previous month following two consecutive months of MoM increase. Meanwhile, on YoY basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010. The industrial turnover index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, recorded a rise of 14.4% YoY in the month in question and fell 4.3% from the previous month.
Meanwhile, in April this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 7.5% from March and was up 3.2% YoY. On YoY basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010. The industrial new orders index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, in April this year rose 19.9% compared to the same month of 2011 and was down 18.1% compared to the previous month following MoM increase of 38.5% recorded in the previous month.
