According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute, Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in May this year increased by 17.8% compared to the same month of the previous year and was up by 8% over April this year.

In May, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 15.2% YoY and registered 14.1% increase from the previous month. Meanwhile, on YoY basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010. The industrial turnover index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment recorded a rise of 18.3% YoY in the month in question and increased 8.6% from the previous month.

Meanwhile in May this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 12% from April and was up 12.5% YoY. On YoY basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010. The industrial new orders index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment in May this year decreased by 5.7% compared to the same month of 2011 and was up 7.6% compared to the previous month.
