
According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association, in the first 9 months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 558,893 units falling by 12.2% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In September alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw an increase of 20.5% MoM and were up 15.2% compared to the same month of 2011 totaling 73.305 units.
In the first 9 months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 379.717 units, falling by 7.9% YoY.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 547.440 units while its passenger car exports amounted to 300,327 units both falling by 9% compared to the same period last year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January to September period amounted to USD 14.25 billion falling 7% while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled USD 4.4 billion falling by 9% both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first 9 months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 2.7% YoY totaling 276,041 units. In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle imports totaled 348,298 units falling by 7.6% YoY.
