Turkish raw steel production up by 17pct in 2011

Raw steel production in Turkey hit a record high of 34.1 million tonnes in 2011, marking 17% rise over the previous year from 29.1 million tonnes.
A national association of Turkish steel producers said that production was also up on a monthly basis in December to 3.1 million tonnes with an increase of 11.5% over the same month a year earlier.
It said that in 2011, production in Turkish steel doubled average production figures in the world.
