
According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in May this year Turkey's steel scrap imports fell by 4.8% compared to April and were up 12.8% compared to the same month of 2011 amounting to 1.96 million tonnes.
According to the data released by TUIK, in May the average price of Turkey's steel scrap imports stood at USD 446 per tonne rising USD 1 per tonne compared to the previous month and down USD 5 per tonne compared to May 2011.
Meanwhile, in the first 5 months of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 9.36 million tonnes increasing 17.5% compared to the same period last year.
