
According to the data provided by Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association, Turkey's largest steel export markets in 2011 were Iraq with 1.52 million tonnes and the United Arab Emirates with 1.51 million tonnes.
Turkey's steel product exports to the UAE fell by 36.99% YoY, while its steel product exports to Iraq rose by 28.3% YoY.
Steel product exports to the UAE accounted for an 8.35% share of Turkey's total steel product exports in 2011, down from a 13.85% share recorded in 2010, and significantly down from the 29.74% share in 2008.
Meanwhile, the share of Turkey's steel product exports to Iraq of the total steel product export volume was 8.4% in 2011, up from 6.8% recorded in 2010.
In 2011, Turkey's leading exported steel product to both the UAE and Iraq was steel bar, including rebar, with a volume of 1.25 million tonnes to the UAE and 858,974 tonnes to Iraq. In 2011, Turkey's bar exports to the UAE fell by 6.3% YoY, while steel product exports to Iraq rose by 51.9% YoY.
