
According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in December 2011 Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled USD 1.7 billion increasing by 4% YoY and remaining almost unchanged compared to November.
Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country. In December imports of articles of iron or steel fell by 4.7% compared to December 2010 and were up 10.75% MoM amounting to USD 206 million.
Meanwhile, in 2011 the country's iron and steel imports stood at USD 20.4 billion while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to USD 2.5 billion increasing by 26.7% and up 28.2% respectively both compared to 2010.
