
According to the customs statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in September 2009 Turkey imported 1.94 million tonnes of ferrous scrap increasing its imports of the product in question by 53.84% compared to August.
In September, Turkey's average ferrous scrap import price was USD 295 per tonne up USD per tonne or 7.13% compared to August levels.
During the month in question, Turkey's main ferrous scrap source was Europe with imports of 971,400 tonnes up 35.77% followed by North America with 519,000 tonnes increasing by 4 times and the CIS with 342,500 tonnes up 20.17% all compared to the previous month.
