
BR reported that Tuwairqi Steel Mills' first shipment of 40,000 tonnes of DRI Grade Oxide Pellets having iron ore content of 67% arrived at Port Qasim Karachi. The arrival of oxide pellets marks a major milestone in the successful completion and operation of TSML's DRI Plant. The raw material has been imported from Sohar, Oman and selected to optimize productivity, energy consumption and overall economics of the plant.
Mr Zubair Motiwalla chairman of Sindh Board of Investment said that "The arrival of TSML's first shipment puts faith and strong belief in the project that will greatly help in augmenting the efforts towards completion of the DRI project this year."
Mr Zaigham Adil Rizvi director projects said that "The successful arrival of first ship of DRI Grade Oxide Pellets in Pakistan is the reward for the dedication and hard work shown by TSML family. It's a huge milestone in TSML journey the journey built on hope, faith and perseverance as we strive to achieve our goal of a successful and respected company that not only works for the betterment of itself but also the betterment of Pakistan."
Dr Parwaiz Khan head of Logistics said that "The DRI Grade oxide pellets imported from Oman have been mined in Brazil. The ore has been beneficiated and pelletized in Sohar and is eventually made most suitable for the DRI reduction process. It has been selected keeping in consideration the chemical and physical characteristics reduction properties and overall economics of the DRI Plant.”
