USAID supports training and accreditation of Jordanian professionals in Clean Tech

In partnership with the local EDAMA Association and the American Association of Energy Engineers, USAID Jordan Economic Development Program, provided technical support for a training and certification program for the Renewable Energy Professional certification. The training for the REP certification is substantial and timely.

Jordan is the first country in the world to receive this training outside the US, The training will build the capacities of Jordanian professionals which will open up opportunities for new businesses and new job opportunities in Jordan and the region. 40 Jordanian engineers will be trained to become certified renewable energy managers. The global trend on energy saving and efficiency is gaining momentum in the region and awareness tools and global standardizations are issues of great importance

The training program was launched today at the Amman Chamber of Industry. This will be followed by a qualifying international exam that will accredit successful candidates with the REP certificate. The REP certification was introduced by AEE in 2010, to recognize the expertise and experiences of professionals in the field. The REP examines professionals involved in the specification and applications of renewable and alternative energy technologies, assessment of renewable energy project, and development of achievable low carbon and sustainability goals for organizations. The REP is a worldwide recognized certification that has the highest level of competency in renewable energy.

The USAID Jordan Economic Development Program is 5 year economic development initiative implemented by Deloitte Consulting LLP and a sizeable team of international and Jordanian partner firms. The Program's mission is to support sectors and activities in alignment with His Majesty King Abdullah's vision for a Knowledge-based Economy, by inserting Jordanian enterprises into global value chains, promoting investment, and improving the enabling environment to generate value added jobs, exports, foreign direct investment and sector revenues as a powerful engine of economic growth.
