The contract will cover the construction of a network that will total 10 kilometers in length and feature two tracks, one 12 meters in width and the other 6 meters. The elevated monorail will be 10 meters above the ground and run in a circuit around the campus.
Local firms including Saudi Oger, Saudi Binladin Group, El Seif Engineering & Contracting Company and Saudi Freyssinet have pre qualified for the work. A number of unidentified international contractors are also believed to have been invited to bid for the work.
It is the fourth package to be issued by the Saudi’s finance ministry at the campus. It follows the submission of bids for three previous construction and infrastructure packages, which could be worth a total of SAR 43 billion.
