Australian engineering company WorleyParsons has won a deal to oversee the construction of gas processing and transport facilities in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company said that it had won the project management consultancy contract in late September but the deal has only just come to light. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Executives said that under the contract, Worley Parsons will manage 2 projects at the Asab oil and gas field in southwest Abu Dhabi.

For the first project, Asab 3, it will oversee the construction of a booster station. France’s Technip won the engineering; procurement and construction contract to build Asab 3 in November and has started work. The project will allow GASCO to process and distribute more gas from its facilities at the Asab field. Technip will also modify two existing gas handling units, Asab 0 and Asab 1, at the same site and build a pipeline to move natural gas between three facilities at the oil field.

The second project covers the construction of 100 kilometers long pipeline to transport ethane and methane rich gas from Gasco’s Thamma C production facilities to the Asab facilities.

Gasco has yet to announce an EPC contractor for the second project, but sources close to the deal say India’s Dodsal is the front runner to build the pipeline after submitting the lowest price in a bid round in November. Both schemes are part of the wider Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, Ruwais scheme to boost Gasco’s gas processing capacity by 150 million cubic feet per day.
