Oman’s commodity exports up by 1.7% YoY in 6 months

Khaleej Times reported that Oman has achieved a 1.7% YoY rise in the total value of commodity exports during the January to June 2007 period mainly due to a huge rise in exports of non oil commodities. The total value of commodity exports amounted to OMR 4.15 billion as at the end of June 2007 as against OMR 4.08 billion during the corresponding period in 2006.

This rise has been attributed to a 73.6% YoY increase in exports of non oil commodities which amounted to OMR 535.2 million at the end of June 2007 as compared to OMR 308.3 million during the corresponding period in 2006.

According to statistics released by Oman's ministry of national economy, re export trade also rose by 36.8% YoY as at the end of June 2007 to OMR 485.9 million as compared to OMR 355.2 million during the corresponding period in 2006.

Oman’s oil and gas exports declined by 8.4% YoY during January to June 2007 period to OMR 3.13 billion compared to OMR 3.42 billion during the corresponding period in 2006.
