Turkey is the 38th World power in mineral resources and metals
Istanbul's office of the Italian Foreign Trade Institute announced that according to a recent report of Mining Exploration Institute of Ankara, Turkey is the world's 38th producer of metals and mineral products, with 77 different elements out of 90 which are considered of strategic importance at global level, even if in different quantities.
It said that in 2007 the metal export guaranteed to the country incomes for over USD 2.7 billion. The best sold products abroad are boron, chrome, zinc and lead.
Turkey is also the seventh country in the world and the first in Europe in terms of geothermal energy potential, with 31,500 MW of which only 1,299 is effectively used.
