Rautaruukki announces end of employer employee negotiations

Rautaruukki announced that employer employee negotiations, which were initiated by Rautaruukki's Ruukki Construction division in March 2009 to improve operational efficiency and integrate production at the Kalajoki unit in Finland, have now ended.

In Kalajoki, Rautaruukki has plants serving both construction and the engineering industry. In future, both plants will manufacture components for the engineering industry.

The employer employee negotiations, which applied to Ruukki Construction's personnel, resulted in the transfer of 35 persons to Ruukki Engineering division and in 12 redundancies. It was also decided to temporarily lay off a maximum of 15 persons affected by the negotiations. These lay offs are due to production conditions and will take place between May 2009 and August 2009.
