Mr Mittal sees smaller role ahead for steel traders

AMM reported that Mr LN Mittal chairman & CEO of ArcelorMittal said that he believes it is critical for the global steel industry to strengthen the supply chain if it is to emerge from the current global economic crisis in a stronger and more sustainable state.
Mr Mittal, during his keynote speech to kick off AMM's and World Steel Dynamics Inc's Steel Survival Strategies XXIV conference in New York, said that the key to strengthening the chain lies in removing one of its long established links.
He added that "Third party traders must be removed from the supply chain. We need to shorten the supply chain to make it more efficient and sustainable."
