According to the news from Steel Daily, WISCO offers an export quotation of USD 525 per tonne CFR for common carbon thick plate to South Korea recently. This quotation is USD 20 per tonne higher than USD 505 per tonne provided by Shagang three weeks ago.
Industry insiders informed Steel Daily said that "Chinese steelmakers start to raise their export offer of thick plate for the moment. However, South Korea's import price is only posted at KRW 0.65 million per tonne. Further more, KRW's exchange rate versus dollars is climbing up hence, it is difficult to import with such a price of USD 525 per tonne.”
It is reported that S. Korea will import more than 30,000 tons thick plates in July (May contract volume) with a contract price of USD 450 to USD 460 per tonne.
