Rousse Shipyard workers get half salary to stop strike
Friday, 03 Jul 2009

It is reported that the workers of Rousse Shipyard in Bulgaria's Danube city of Ruse have received a 50% of one monthly salary. On June 29th 2009, the 600 workers declared civil disobedience and started a permanent strike refusing to return to their work spots as they hadn't been paid since March.

The plant management has paid half of the April salaries, and has promised to pay the other half in two weeks. They have also offered the striking workers a deal in which they would get their delayed salaries in 50% payments twice monthly.

The striking workers are going to decide Wednesday morning if they would resume work after these steps on part of the management.
The Ruse shipbuilding yard is facing grave financial issues as a result of the global economic crisis.
