According to press release, the country's largest 1500 MW NJHPS of public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited has established yet another milestone by generating a record 1069 MW of electricity during June 2009, thus surpassing its own previous best OF 976 MW in the year 2007.
On account of the record generation during the month, all the beneficiary states of Northern India with Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, J&K & Himachal Pradesh as equity partners, get 25% of the electricity generated at bus bar rates and another 12% free of cost.
According to Mr NC Bansal general manager, this record generation was achieved because of excellent management of silt, water and machines. So far, this project has produced more than 31,400 MU of electricity during the last 5 years of commercial operations and has thus contributed a lot to the growth of Indian economy. The power station is scheduled to generate 6600 million units of electricity during the year 2009-10.
