Saturday, 04 Jul 2009

The Peninsula reported that leading port management and logistics firm Gulftainer has signed an agreement with the international plastics company Borouge to provide on-site logistics services including bagging and packaging, container yard operations and maintenance of associated equipment and vehicles at Borouge's polyolefins plant at Ruwais in Abu Dhabi over the next 5 years.

The agreement was signed by Mr Peter Richards director and GM of Gulftainer Group and Mr Abdulaziz Alhajri CEO of Borouge's Production Company.

Mr Richards said that "This agreement with Borouge is a positive step in our strategy for growth in the region. Gulftainer has been operating in the Middle East for over 33 years and in that time we have built up a reputation for efficiency and excellence, not only in port management, but also in our other areas of operation: transport and logistics."

Mr Abdulaziz Alhajri CEO of Borouge's Production Company said that "Being an efficient and reliable supplier to our customers is a priority for us.”

He said that "With the additional polyolefins capacity coming on stream in mid-2010 and the start up of our logistics hubs in Singapore and Shanghai and Guangzhou in China, it is important that we optimize our supply chain operations also in Abu Dhabi to ensure we are a long-term reliable partner for our customers throughout the Middle East and Asia."
