
Zee News reported that Bajaj Auto reported a 4.52% fall in motorcycle sales at 1,67,945 units in June against 1,75,903 units in the same month last year.
Bajaj Auto Limited in a statement said total two wheeler sales during the month stood at 1,68,471 units, a decrease of 4.88% over the same month last year. It sold 1,77,112 units of two wheelers in the same period a year ago.
BAL's exports, however, went up by 4.39% to 67,726 units in June from 64,878 units a year ago. It added that total vehicle sales stood at 1,93,202 units last month compared to 1,96,741 units in the same period a year ago, down by 1.80%.
BAL said "With the launch of the new Pulsar 220 DTS-i in June, Bajaj expects Pulsar sales to rise further beyond 48,062 units it sold in June," adding that it expects to record double digit growth in motorcycle sales from August after the coming launch of its new large volume motorcycle this month.
It added that domestic commercial vehicle sales have begun to grow on the back of marketing initiatives focused on the in city segment. Exports have normalized after the dip in January to March 2009 and are expected to gradually exhibit positive YoY growth.
