Discounts on ferrous metals transit to Kaliningrad through Lithuania

It is reported that on July 1st additional discounts on ferrous metals transit rates to Kaliningrad region through Lithuania come into power.
In particular, new tariffs preferences are given to iron transit from Prisady station 35 % discount, ferrous metals from Novolipetsk station 35 % discount and ferrous metals from Kotel station 25 % discount. The discounts will be valid till the end of 2009. At the same time the management of the “Lithuanian Railways” expressed the hope that Belarusian railways will give the same preferences.
On the results of the negotiations between the railways of three countries Lithuanian and Belarusian railways in May and June made the decisions to give the discounts on the transit of some kinds of cargoes in Kaliningrad direction. Meanwhile the experts think that the discounts given by both Lithuanian and Belarusian railways have not solved the problem of the shipments through Kaliningrad transportation complex yet.
