Statesman News Service repoted that emboldened by the release of their leader, Mr Abhay Sahoo and empowered by the support of CPI MP from Jagatsinghpur, Mr Bibhuprasad Tarai, the activists of POSCO Pratirodha Sangram Samiti are all set to intensify their opposition to the steel project.
The PPSS has drawn up plans to hold a public meeting at Balitutha under Erasama block on 10 September. Prominent anti land acquisition leaders from many parts of the country including Kalinga Nagar (Orissa), Singur and Nandigram (West Bengal) as well as many CPI leaders are expected to address the gathering on 10 September.
Sources said that in the changed scenario, the release of Mr Sahoo after about 10 months in jail and support from MP Mr Tarai have come as a much waited energy packets for the POSCO project opponents here.
Mr Sahoo, who was recently granted conditional bail by the High Court, boasted of mass support behind them by saying that “The people are ready to protest the project tooth and nail as their very livelihood is at stake. The government officials and company officials have been debarred from entering the project site, and would be debarred in future too.”
